Established in 1937 by the Jamaican horticulturist Hedley Vivian Edwards, Ardastra Gardens, Zoo, and Conservation Centre is a beloved institution in Nassau, The Bahamas. The name "Ardastra" is derived from the Latin phrase "Ardua astrum," which translates to "Striving for the stars," reflecting the center's commitment to conservation and its mission to reach for excellence in the care and protection of wildlife.
